TCG Releases This Friday: Everything Out October 2, 2026

Friday, October 2, 2026 is a busy release day. Pokémon gets the second wave of 30th Celebration plus two smaller Halloween-season products, Magic: The Gathering launches Reality Fracture, and Disney Lorcana has a new co-op box. One product that was supposed to be on the list isn't.

Here's everything releasing October 2, what's in each box, and the prices we could actually confirm. Where a price hasn't been published, we've left it out rather than guess.

Pokémon: 30th Celebration, wave two

The 30th Celebration set launched on September 16. Friday brings its cheapest products so far.

The Booster Bundle is six booster packs and nothing else. For this set that's more interesting than usual, because every card in a 30th Celebration pack is foil: five foil cards plus a foil Basic Energy, and one of the five is always one of the set's 30 different Pikachu cards. If you just want to open packs, the bundle is the most direct way to do it.

The Mini Tins hold two booster packs each, plus a sticker sheet and an art card. There are ten different tin artworks. That's either a nice touch or a trap, depending on how completionist you are. I know which one it is for me.

The Binder Collection got delayed

The Binder Collection (a nine-pocket binder and five booster packs) was scheduled for October 2 as well. It isn't coming Friday. Pokémon moved its US release to December 4, 2026, and updated its own website with the new date, as Screen Rant reported. No reason was given. If you pre-ordered one, expect it in December.

Pokémon: Enhanced 2-Pack Blister and Mini Portfolio

Two smaller Pokémon products are also dated October 2, and both are really a second chance at recent sets.

The Enhanced 2-Pack Blister has a Halloween feel: cosmos holo cards of Gengar, Team Rocket's Mimikyu and Marshadow, a Gengar coin and two booster packs. According to ComicBook, one pack is Pitch Black and the other is Chaos Rising. The reported price is $10.99.

The Mini Portfolio is a small 60-card binder with one Pitch Black booster pack inside. The cover shows Mega Greninja and Mega Zeraora on the front, with Mega Darkrai and Mega Chandelure on the back. It's reported at $5.49, which makes it the cheapest way to get a Pitch Black pack on Friday. Whether Pitch Black is worth chasing at all is a separate question, and we tried to answer it here.

Magic: The Gathering: Reality Fracture

Reality Fracture releases worldwide on October 2. Prerelease events ran from September 25 to October 1, and it went live on MTG Arena on September 29.

The story setup is fun. Jace has had enough of fighting the Multiverse's problems, so he builds the Echoverse, a mirrored "perfect" reality that starts swallowing the real one, and his former allies have to stop him. Card-wise, that shows up as echoed pairs: familiar characters shown next to their alternate-reality versions. There's one in every Play Booster.

The main set has 71 commons, 109 uncommons, 64 rares and 26 mythic rares. Play Boosters are $5.49 and Collector Boosters are $26.99, according to Wizards.

The chase card is a serialized Bloodline Recollector. Only 500 exist, each numbered, and they come only in Collector Boosters. The odds of pulling one are exactly as bad as that sounds. If you're opening Collector Boosters for it, you're buying lottery tickets. Buy them for the special treatments instead, like the shattered mirror cards and the borderless echoed pairs.

Disney Lorcana: The Great Hunny Rescue

Illumineer's Quest: The Great Hunny Rescue is Lorcana's third co-op box, after Deep Trouble and Palace Heist. Piglet has been captured by the Vine, and you and one friend (or just you, solo) have to fight your way in and free him. Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Kanga, Violet Parr and Boo all show up.

The box has two prebuilt 60-card player decks, a 50-card Vine scenario deck, Vine Tendril and Encounter cards, prize cards, tokens and a game board. MSRP is $59.99.

One thing to know about the date: sources don't agree. Some list October 2, others October 3. If your local store is running a launch event, check with them directly.

I like the Illumineer's Quest boxes more than I expected to. They're a good way to play Lorcana with someone who doesn't want to build a competitive deck, and the included decks mean nobody has to bring anything. If you're new to the game, the Lorcana sets in order guide is a good starting point.

What's not releasing Friday

Should you buy on release day?

It depends what you're buying. Sealed Pokémon products from a set this popular tend to sell out fast and then come back in later print runs, so there's rarely a reason to pay well over retail on day one. Magic Play Boosters are a different story and usually just hit shelves. And the Lorcana co-op box is a game you play, not a card chase, so buy it when you want to play it.
